A MKI/II FAIRBAIRN-SYKES DAGGER,
circa 1942, probably private purchase for service-use, with blued tapering double-edged 6 1/2in. blade (tip lightly reprofiled), the forte etched on one side with a panel featuring the Wilkinson Sword cross sabre trade-mark, the reverse with another etched panel with 'THE F.S. FIGHTING KNIFE', blacked oval steel cross-guard, slender bronze hilt swelling forwards of centre and crudely lightly chequered (traces of blacking), bun pommel-nut and complete with its leather service-style scabbard with elastic retainer to top, four sleeve tabs and blacked nose-cap with square-cut tip
