probably Portuguese contract and dated for 1867, with 9in. barrel signed 'WHITWORTH PATENT', block and blade fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the breech-block hinge, the top of the block signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT' and marked with the triangular trademark, plain bar-action lock signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO' and with the triangle trademark bearing the date, walnut full-stock, brass furniture, loose lanyard ring at heel, chequered trigger-blade, brass nose-cap and no provision for clearing rod
