circa 1870, with probably shortened 28in. damascus barrels, the top-rib signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS, 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON', metal fore-sight bead, the 'dolls-head' single-bite marked 'PATENT', scroll engraved standing breech marked 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT 140', percussion fences, patent top-lever, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS' (traces of colour) with dolphin headed scroll engraved hammers, walnut chequered straight hand stock (1/2in. well executed extension in wood), iron heel-plate, scroll engraved furniture, renewed chequered walnut splinter fore-end with 'crab-claw' joint, shaped horn tip, re-finished throughout
