Randal Thomas Mowbray Berkeley was born to the 7th Earl of Berkeley on 31st January 1865. He spent early adulthood in the service of the Royal Navy before acceding to the title of 8th Earl of Berkeley in 1888. He died without issue in January 1942 and so the title became extinct.
