24 3/8in. nitro barrels (London proof for 38 grains rifleite, likely shortened) with matt sight rib, open sights and two folding leaf sights marked for 75, 100, 200 and 300 yards, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, the breech end with quickly-detachable telescopic sight claw mount bases, tubes re-engraved 'HENRY ATKIN. (FROM PURDEY'S.) (?) JERMYN STREET OF ST. JAMES. LONDON.', (sic. refreshed), removable striker discs, cocking-lever return studs, bolted automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, action, lockplates and furniture re-engraved with flowing acanthus scrollwork, feathered bordering and floral bouquets, the underside with 'HENRY ATKIN FROM PURDEY'S', the triggerplate signed 'ENGR. P.J.', retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, missing left mainspring, 14 3/4in. figured replacement pistolgrip-stock with cheekpiece, horn pistolgrip-cap, fore-end with grip-catch release and replacement wood, weight 8lb. 7oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this rifle was completed in .303 calibre for W. Craven, the completion date is not recorded.
