for 1916, with scarce rapid-taper lightweight 20in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, carbine folding rear-sight, barrel marked 'NICKEL STEEL BARREL ESPECIALLY FOR USE WITH SMOKELESS POWDER' together with the manufacturers address and patent dates to 1884, plain receiver with provision for saddle-ring (missing), top-tang drilled for peep-sight, walnut straight-hand butt-stock with later chequered black plastic 'WINCHESTER' heel-plate, walnut fore-end with iron barrel-band and half-length magazine, eyelets for a 'Winchester' sling, refinished throughout
