Provenance: We are kindly informed by the vendor that this gun was ordered by her Father in Law, Mr Pellini, in 1955. He used the gun to great effect, winning a veteran World Live Pigeon Championship in San Sebastian, Spain in 1965.
We have also been kindly supplied the following profile of Armanno Pellini by his grandson, together with the images of Mr Pellini and his medals:
"Armanno "Manno" Pellini (born in Cremona, Italy on 31st July 1904) put together, in post-war Italy, entrepreneurial skills and a great passion for hunting and shooting that lasted all his life.
Armanno - besides making regular hunting trips to several regions and game reserves in Italy and Europe often accompanied by his son Giorgio - was a keen and skilled pigeon shooter.
He developed his ability as a regular of various pigeon shooting Clubs in Italy and Spain, where he participated to important competitions winning several trophies, and to the World Championships in San Sebastian, Milano and Valencia where he reached top rankings in his class by using the over-and-under Lebeau Courally that is now being auctioned."
