A .65 PATTERN 1839 TOWER CONSTABULARY TYPE CARBINE, CIRCA 1840, no visible serial number with 26 in. Birmingham proofed barrel with block front-sight, lock of flintlock form, stamped 'TOWER' on the tail and with a Crown to the centre, regulation brass mounted full walnut stock, barrel to a grey patina, some staining and speckling, lock and hammer pitted overall with loss too markings, good untouched sharp stock, an interesting trade gun possibly made for sale to merchant ships, a worthy restoration project and worth the estimate
