Provenance: The lot is accompanied by a typed and signed note from Keith Neal stating that the shotgun came from the collection of Dr Aitken of Truro, Cornwall in 1932. Neal further says that he believes this to be the closest survival of the true pellet lock gun of Mantons 1816 patent with the only alteration being the substitution of Manton's early form square section nipples for the original platinum vents, and the original pellet primer strikers (included) still fit the hammers exactly. It also retains its original Christies Lot label (14) from the 9 November 2000 W. Keith Neal sale
