for 1883, 30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS. 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON' (rubbed) and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip action, patent no. 1756 of 1875, use number 6658, with first pattern round cocking levers, Westley Richards patent toplever gold-inlaid '1' and engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scrollwork with ornate bordering, the makers name in scrolling banners to the sides, the triggerguard with hound and fowl, 14 1/4in. highly-figured stock with chequered side panels and engraved steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with horn finial and Deeley & Edge patent release catch, weight 6lb. 8oz.
