dated for August 1873, with 6in. octagonal barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight blade, solid frame with plain, matching number six-shot gate-loading cylinder, double action trigger and hammer, chequered walnut semi saw-handle grip and eyelet for lanyard swivel at heel, retaining strong traces of original blued and stamped with a 'W.D.' and broad arrow acceptance mark
