A GOOD 80-BORE PERCUSSION TRANTER'S PATENT REVOLVER SIGNED ALEX THOMSON & SON, EDINBURGH, serial no. 22767,
circa 1856, with blued 4 5/8in. octagonal barrel, engraved band at muzzle, scroll-work at throat, the top-strap signed 'ALEX THOMSON & SON, 61 UNION PLACE, EDINBURGH' with scrolled border, borderline and scroll engraved solid frame, plain cylinder with borderline engraving (colour lost), swept chequered walnut grip and hinged rammer, the whole retaining much original blued finish where appropriate
