A .500 (3IN.) 'BELMONT INTERCHANGEABLE' EXPRESS TOPLEVER DOUBLE HAMMER RIFLE, serial no. 6443,
circa 1896, 28in. black powder only barrels, file cut matt rib, open rear sight with five folding leaf sights marked for '100-400 yards' and with replacement ladder sight blank, ramped bead fore-sight (missing moon sight), the breech end engraved 'PATENT CLIP LUMP' (though this appears to have been removed in place of standard Purdey bolt), the tubes engraved 'BELMONT INTERCHANGEABLE. SPECIAL STEEL.' (refreshed), treble-grip action, carved percussion fences, back-action locks with rebounding hammers (the left a crude replacement), border and partial scroll engraving, the locks signed 'C.G. BONEHILL.' (later or refreshed), bright finish, 14 1/4in. replacement semi-pistolgrip stock including rubber recoil pad, fore-end with Deeley & Edge release catch (at fault), weight 9lb. 12oz.
