circa 1861-2, with 4 3/4in. octagonal barrel, the top flat unsigned, small blade fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, one-piece iron frame (hinged loading gate absent), plain cylinder with front locking notches, sheath trigger, smooth flared walnut grips and sprung ejector rod stored beneath barrel, minimal traces of finish
