A .450 FRANCOTTE-TYPE PRYSE-ACTION REVOLVER FURTHER SIGNED STANTON, serial no. 202 / C37065,
circa 1880, with London proved blued round 5in. barrel, moulded sighting rib of Smith & Wesson style, bright blued crescent fore-sight and twin Pryse-type locking-bars for the break-open frame, plain six-shot automatic ejecting quick-release cylinder, the left side of frame with 'JOINT STANTON' (faint), double action mechanism, the hammer with additional frame locking notch on nose, chequered walnut grips, the shallow domed but-cap with central lanyard ring, strong amount of finish remaining
Provenance: This revolver incorporates Stanton's patent for the rebounding hammer, patent usage number, C37065 is on the body. This patent was declared void on 19 March 1880 after that date there was not necessity to mark the gun with Stanton's patent usage number
