A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SPANISH TRANSITIONAL MUSKET, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, circa 1780, with 33 1/2in. half-round, half octagonal 'Spanish' barrel inlaid with white metal wire decoration marks believed to be for Diego Albarez of Madrid, ram-rod missing, engraved brass trigger-guard, transitional miquelet flint-lock with marks believed to be for Ribas Astiazaran, walnut stock (missing fore-end) with chequering at wrist, engraved brass butt-cap, the barrel spur is broken at the lock screw and missing, and the stock cracked at the wrist, lock rusted and possibly restocked in Britain, an excellent restoration project for a rare gun, 478in. overall
