A .451 PERCUSSION BREECH-LOADING CARBINE, MODEL 'MONKEY-TAIL', serial no. 17721,
dated for 1882, with 25in. barrel, the breech end marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT', block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, lift-up trapdoor action stamped 'MANUFACTURED BY WESTLEY RICHARDS' together with the 'triangle' trademark, plain lockplate signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co.', the 'triangle' trademark with date, walnut full-stock with iron furniture (cracked and repaired along left cheek), iron barrel-band and complete with clearing rod and a later leather sling.
