serial number later addition to underside of barrels, 30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (in 2016), rib engraved 'JAMES ERSKINE. NEWTON STEWART', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, Erskine patent treble-grip action, the underlever operating screw-grip (central bolt replaced), ratcheted to operate a third sliding bolt (locking into rear lump) and with cocking bars with roller ends pushing the hammers back to half cock, shrouded non-rebounding back-action locks (shrouds housing the cocking bars), fine border and acanthus scroll engraving and scenes of hound on point, the underside with a vignette of a brace of pheasant, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 13 7/8in. stock with border engraved steel heel and toe-plates, fore-end with lever release, weight 7lb. 6oz.
