late 18th century, with 8 1/2in. drop-point blade (worn), central fuller and false edged for the last 5 1/2in., wide plain silver band to base of hilt bordered with silver bead-work, finely carved and pierced marine ivory hilt in the form of a crouched and bound mythological demon with a further figure carved to the reverse (some age cracking) TOGETHER WITH its brass mounted wood scabbard
