A RARE .303 (BRIT) BOLT-MAGAZINE SERVICE-RIFLE, MODEL 'AUSTRALIAN ISSUE No1 MKIII* SNIPER', serial no. 56692,
the rifle dated for 1918 with 25 1/4in. concealed barrel, blued receiver with turned down bolt-handle, squared serrated cocking piece, the breech fitted with a twin slot telescopic sight mount, the rear left of the receiver with an off-set mount with single locking aperture, military style woodwork, the butt fitted with an applied comb-raiser, the fore-end retaining its volley sight to left hand side, the rear hand-guard modified for the objective lens of a telescopic sight and complete with an Australian issue Pattern 18 telescopic sight dated for 1945 in quick detachable mounts, complete with its canvas and webbing carry case and tools, leather lens covers and all matching numbers
Other Notes: This rifle is mentioned in The Lee Enfield Book by Ian Skennerton as being of the low mount type and entering stores on the 19th October 1945
