A .44 (RUSSIAN) REVOLVER SIGNED SMITH & WESSON, MODEL DOUBLE-ACTION FRONTIER' serial no. 6296, frame manufactured pre 1899 but assembled later, with scarcer 4in. barrel, raised sighting rib stamped with makers details and patent dates to 1880, crescent fore-sight, notch rear-sight, fluted 1 9/16in . cylinder, break-open frame, colour hardened trigger and hammer, smooth, possibly factory ivory grips, traces of original nickel-plated finish remaining
