A .44 (RUSSIAN) SMITH & WESSON 'NEW MODEL 3' REVOLVER, serial no. 12359, 
 manufactured circa 1897, with blued 6 1/2in. barrel, maker's signature to the top-rib with patent dates to 1877 and 'REISSUE JULY 25. 1871', pinned blade fore-sight, fixed rear-sight, break-open frame with fluted cylinder and automatic ejection, colour hardened hammer, trigger and trigger-guard, chequered walnut grips without trademark and rounded heel
