circa 1892, with 34 1/2in. re-blued heavy tapering round barrel, signed 'METFORD PATENT 1508' and 'GEORGE GIBBS 29 CORN STREET BRISTOL', block fore-sight base with micro-adjustable windage for the tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, the action and furniture engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, the right side with 'FARQUHARSON'S PATENT 621' and mounted with a large thumb-operated safe, the left a beaded oval cartouche engraved 'GEORGE GIBBS BRISTOL', chequered walnut pistolgrip stock with moulded horn grip-cap, vacant oval escutcheon to underside of butt, ribbed horn heel-plate, the actual heel inlet with a scroll engraved mount for a back-position vernier sight (sight absent), English hard rubber heel-pad, chequered walnut beavertail fore-end, traces of colour to action
