Product Details
AN UNSIGNED .36 PERCUSSION COLT 1862 POLICE REVOLVER, serial no. 2257,
for first year of production, 1861, with blued round unaddressed 6 1/2in. barrel, matching number wedge, open iron frame with traces of colour and also apparently unmarked, stepped and fluted five-shot cylinder also without the usual patent date but correctly numbered, brass grip-straps with traces of silver plated finish (rounded at heel) and smooth walnut grip
Provenance: This revolver is possibly a so-called 'lunch-box' gun; i.e. one produced by an enterprising employee of Colts for their own use. It appears authentic in every respect other than the complete lack of markings
