Provenance: The case name likely refers to Charles James Carlton Mowat:

Captain Charles Mowat (1885–1915) Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), 1st/8th Battalion. Born on 25th February 1885 in Glasgow, Charles Mowat was educated at Glasgow Academy, Loretto School, and Trinity College, Oxford. He became a stockbroker like his father, Ronald W. Mowat. Mowat was first commissioned in 1905 into the 4th Lanark Rifle Volunteers. He later joined the 8th Cameronians, rising to Lieutenant in 1907 before resigning in 1911. With the outbreak of WWI, he rejoined the regiment as Second Lieutenant in August 1914 and was promoted to Captain the following month. In May 1915, his battalion sailed for Gallipoli, landing on 14th June. Just two weeks later, on 28th June, Captain Mowat was killed during the assault at Gully Ravine, a battle that claimed many officers' lives. He was 30 years old. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Panel 92–97. He received the 1914–15 Star, British War Medal, and Victory Medal. Mowat is also remembered on memorials at the Glasgow Academy, Loretto School, Trinity College and the Scottish National War Memorial. A stained-glass window in Glasgow Cathedral also honours him and his family
