"The following are some further details which may be of interest to a prospective buyer.
The guns were made in 1905 and as far as I know were originally purchased by my Father's Godfather and were later passed on to my Father some time around 1930. I first started to shoot with them in 1957 and continued to do so until 2020 when I ceased shooting due to a deterioration in my balance and footing. I felt it better to make my own decision rather than wait for someone to suggest it to me. My Father gifted to the two William Evans guns to me
in 1965. Basically they have not changed hands for money since their first sale in 1905, they are well balanced and I have always thoroughly enjoyed shooting them.
As the two guns are from early in the career of Mr.Evans the ribs are inscribed 'William Evans
late of James Purdey' before Purdey withdrew consent for the use of his name. The stocks, barrels, actions and all main parts are I believe from the original guns and history relates that the steel used was of a higher quality before WW1 than the years after the War until the 30s.
I think the engraved butt plates on the stocks are particularly nice and attractive"
