A GOOD CASED PAIR OF 18-BORE PERCUSSION SIDE-HAMMER MAN-STOPPER BELT PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840, with browned octagonal twist damascus 4in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'TIPPING & LAWDEN, HOLBORN, LONDON', engraved bands at muzzles and bead fore-sights, moulded breech-blocks with scroll engraving to the top-faces and screwed plugs (traces of faded colour), scroll engraved squared boxlock actions with bolted safes behind the engraved hammers, engraved top-plates with shallow rear-sights, finely chequered walnut grips with engraved shallow domed butt-caps with central traps, guarded triggers, blued belt-hooks and captive iron ramrods, finish faded but generally appearing little used and in their possibly original mahogany casing, lined and compartmented in green baize and including a three-way flask, scissors ball mould, cap-tin, turn-screw, nipple-key and auxiliary loading rod
