'TRAPDOOR MODEL 1873' SERVICE RIFLE, serial no. 221508, circa 1875, 32 1/2in. nitro reproved barrel (in 2025), block-mounted blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight with further lateral adjustment, model year to breech, flip-up and forwards breech-block, plain lock marked 'U.S. SPRINGFIELD' together with an American eagle device, plain side-hammer, plain walnut three-quarter stock, 13 1/8in. stock including steel buttplate, sling swivels, weight 9lb.
