circa 1863, with 7 1/8in. octagonal barrel, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the top-strap signed 'SAVAGE R.F.A. CO. MIDDLETOWN CT, H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17 1856, JANUARY 18 1859, May 15 1860', off-set central hammer, plain reciprocating cylinder with ratchet indexing, heavy iron frame with side-plate, smooth gumwood grips, the left with traces of a martial cartouche, oversized trigger-guard with single action trigger-blade and additional ring cocking trigger and hinged under-barrel rammer, cleaned of finish with some mild pitting, martial inspector's stamps present
