** AN 8x58mmR (KRAG) MODEL M89 DANISH NAVY KRAG BOLT-MAGAZINE CARBINE SIGNED H.R., serial no. 124958,
dated for 1929, with 24in. barrel with outer shroud, block and blade fore-sight, adjustable rear sight with elevation slider, manual side safety, turned-down bolt handle, side-opening magazine, receiver stamped with a German waffenampt mark, a crown over 'H.R.'. and with 'M89.' and the date, blued finish, beech full-stock, iron furniture including two barrel-bands and sling swivels, much finish throughout

Provenance: These carbines started to trickle through to the Danish Navy after an order for new M/1889/10 Krag-Jørgensen was requested in 1932 to the various Danish arsenals in Copenhagen. These carbines were produced at a slow rate until the occupation of Denmark. No trials for the rifle were held by the Danish Navy, they literally just contracted the factory to make rifles. All receivers of those rifles originally destined for the Navy are marked "HR 1929" on their receivers due to them all being made with receivers from the 1929 production of Hærens Rüstkammer rifles. Production ceased in 1939-40
