A 12-BORE 1865 PATENT ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 7349,
for 1866, 30in. sleeved nitro barrels (in 1982), the rib re-engraved 'J. PURDEY. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON.' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, action with carved serpentine fences, non-rebounding back-action locks, dolphin hammers of stunted pinfire form and incorporating Purdey patent retracting strikers, patent no. 424 of 14th February 1865, Jones patent rotary-underlever, grip safety, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish, 14 3/8in. figured stock with steel buttplate, fore-end with crosspin release, weight 6lb. 15oz.
