DEMEITZER, SPRINGBOKFONTEIN, NAMAQUALAND' (lightly rubbed), dove-tailed blade fore-sight, 'Africa' style rear-sight with folding ladder, two folding and one standing leaves, slab-sided Martini-patent action engraved with broad borders and signed 'HUGHES' in scrolled banners to both sides, cocking indicator and lever safe to the right side, chequered pistol-grip walnut butt-stock, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with ebony tip, refinished throughout and fitted with a later canvas sling
