A CASED 12-BORE TUBELOCK DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 1752,
for 1802, with conversion by the maker to tubelock from flint, well rebrowned laminated 32in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'JOSEPH MANTON PATENT HANOVER SQUARE LONDON' (rib lifting), bead fore-sight, squared breech-blocks with quadruple platinum lines and platinum lined touch-holes, fully engraved top-tang with broad sighting groove, flat bevel-edged scroll engraved locks with rounded stepped tails, re-coloured and signed below the tube clamp springs 'JOSEPH MANTON PATENT', re-coloured slab-sided hammers with blade noses, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture, rectangular white metal barrel key escutcheons and brass mounted ebony ramrod, in a period walnut case relined in dark plum velvet, possible original trade-label re-applied inside lid, together with a powder flask and sundry accessories
