A RARE CASED .44 S&W (RUSSIAN) COLT NEW SERVICE FLAT-TOP TARGET REVOLVER, serial no. 5020, with period holster,
for 1900, with blued tapering 7 1/2in. barrel SIGNED COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MANUFACTURING CO.' over 'HARTFORD CT U.S.A. PAT. AUG 5 1884. JUNE 5 1900', block and blade fore-sight, windage adjustable rear-sight to the flat top-strap, solid frame with blued and fluted swing-out cylinder, polished hammer sides and chequered trigger blade, finely chequered walnut grips and much original finish, with a certificate of proof and in a factory blue velvet lined case with black leatherette covering, the interior fitted in the continental style with tray for ammunition and a sight adjustment tool, together with a tooled leather holster marked on the belt-loop '20' over '44' over '7 1/2' and a Colt heritage letter


Provenance: The letter accompanying the lot states that this revolver was shipped to a T.B. Davis Arms Co. in Maine on August 22nd, 1900
