AN EXTREMELY RARE EARLY PINFIRE SELF-ACTING MILLICHAMPS PATENT FIELD CLOCK GUN, circa 1888, incorporates a large revolver which holds up to eight 16-gauge pinfire cartridges linked to a clockwork mechanism which can be set to fire a cartridge at set intervals from every 15 minutes up to every 1.5 hours, the mechanisms are attached to a wooden base with cast-iron feet, which is covered by a hinged galvanised tin lid with wooden ends and a looped carrying handle allowing it to be hung in a tree, on one side is the exit hole for the shot, on the other is painted 'MILLICHAMPS / PATENT; an brass plate is attached to the base by the revolver with raised script 'C. MILLICHAMP / WATCH, CLOCK & GUNMAKER / NATURALIST & FISHING TACKLE / MANUFACTURER / SEWING MACHINES & BICYCLES &C / PRESTEIGNE' , 14 1/2 in. x 11 1/2 in. x 9 1/2 in., appears complete but clock spring broken, vendor advises was found on the Sandringham Estate
