A FRENCH MODEL 1822 CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD, dated 1833, with 38 in. single-edged blade fullered on each side, ricasso with inspection marks, blade back marked for Chatellerault Arsenal, brass hilt, guard with inspection marks and numbered '9408', leather over wood grip, heavily worn, blade stained with edge-nicks, guard appears to have been altered with one bar removed and the cross-guard section reprofiled, grip wire binding almost entirely absent
