AN EXTREMELY RARE ALDIS No.3 PATTERN WORLD WAR ONE TELESCOPIC SIGHT IN A PP Co. MOUNT, rifle no. L4204,
circa 1916 and for an S.M.L.E., 10 3/4in. overall with enamelled ocular and objective lens housings, focus slide to centre and elevation turret slightly forwards of centre, unusually fitted with a 'PP Co.' British Ordnance marked mount numbered for the rifle on the top-rear bridge and the underside of mount, post and wire graticule, the whole professionally refurbished


Provenance: The majority of Aldis telescopic sights fitted to S.M.L.E. rifles during World War One utilised Purdey or Holland & Holland mounts. To date, this is the only example known fitted with a PP Co. mounting system
