A GOOD LATE VICTORIAN COURT-SWORD SIGNED THOMPSON, LONDON,
circa 1880, probably for a Lord Lieutenant, with straight narrow 31 3/4in. double-edged blade of flat oval cross-section etched for the first two-thirds with foliage, trophies, the Royal Crest and a gartered motto 'PERSEVERE AND DO', the left side signed above the forte 'THOMPSON, CONDUIT ST. REGENT ST. LONDON', turned down shell cross-guard with a carved border of raised dots and the Royal monogram, straight cross-bars with turned tips, carved 'D' shaped knucklebow, wire bound grip and pommel carved in the form of a Queen's crown, much original finish and in its brass mounted black leather scabbard also in good condition
