* A RARE SPECIAL PATTERN BOER WAR CITY OF LONDON YEOMANRY CAVALRY SWORD,
circa 1900, with 34in. single-edged sword with single fuller, ricasso maker-marked for Hamburger Rodgers and Co. London, solid bowl guard stamped '2 / CLY / 393', chequered back strap and ebony grip, no scabbard, worn, blade stained with pitting towards the tip and field-sharpened, rusting to the guard


Provenance: These swords were unique to the City of London Yeomanry and were based on the Pattern 1895 Infantry Officer's Sword, scaled up with a wider 34in. blade for cavalry use, as the CLY fought both as cavalry and mounted infantry
