converted circa 1867 from a Civil War carbine, with round lined (at conversion) 22in. barrel, blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, traces only of markings to top of barrel, receiver with vertically dropping breech operated by an under-lever forming the trigger-guard, back-action lock dated for 1852 (patent) and with redundant 'Lawrence Patent' tape-primer, walnut butt-stock (cracked along toe), iron saddle-ring and bar, walnut splinter fore-end and single iron barrel-band
