circa 2009, 25 1/2in. nitro monoblocked barrels, raised matt sight rib with open sights and two folding leaf sights, gold-inlaid sight lines and marked '50', '100' and '150', quickly-detachable claw-mount bases, ramp-mounted high-visibility fore-sight, detachable fore-end, Fabrique Nationale B25 action with hold-open toplever, elongated top-strap, manual safety with integral barrel selector switch and gold-inlaid 'S' detail, the action and furniture finely engraved with bold scrolling acanthus work with beaded and feathered detailing, the action bar marked 'P. COLLARD', the triggerplate engraved in script 'A.J. Miles', bright finish, 14 3/8in. boldly-figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap with trap gold-inlaid 'CAL .470', 1/2in. recoil pad, weight 9lb. 14oz.
Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that having acquired the rifle 'in the white' and unchequered, he had master engraver Andy Miles undertake the intricate bold acanthus work.
In a recent tribute, John Rigby & Co. said Andy was an extraordinary craftsman whose work has left a lasting mark on the British gunmaking trade and was instrumental during the early years of Rigby's revival. His skill in beautifully executing numbering, lettering and scroll and his dedication earned him enormous respect across the industry. Sadly Andy passed away in June of this year.
