circa 1896, 30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (in 1997), the rib engraved 'JAS. SQUIRES. 14. NEW CASTLE ST. LONDON. E.', and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech end, the tube breech ends with feathered bands and and acanthus scrollwork, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl., carved percussion fences, bar-action locks with non-rebounding hammers, Jones patent rotary underlever, border and acanthus scroll engraving surrounding naive game scene vignettes to the locks and underside, the triggerguard with a darting hare, patinated finish, 13 7/8in. figured stock including horn buttplate, fore-end with cross-pin release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 12oz.
