A MOST UNUSUAL CONTINENTAL PATENT CATAPULT-GUN, serial no. 17660,
probably Belgian circa 1900, 51 1/4in. overall, the front portion made from a stout dowel mounted at the tip with a bronze twin-armed holder for elastic (the current elastic perishing and missing cup projectile holder), the rear-half in the form of a chequered beech straight hand stock, the top with iron retainer marked variously 'ELG'?, 'PATENT', the serial number and possibly '92', folding 'rugby-post' rear-sight, iron side-plates, guarded trigger and heel-plate (toe of plate lacking)
