A RARE .450 PRYSE PATENT 'BRITISH ARMY REVOLVER' RETAILED BY ARMY & NAVY C.S.L., LONDON, serial no. 2288,
circa 1884, with blued octagonal 4 1/8in. barrel, the top squared sighting rib signed in large block letters 'PRYSE'S BRITISH ARMY REVOLVER (PATENTED)', break-open frame with twin Pryse-type locking-bars, the lower left engraved 'ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON', the right with a diamond-shaped stamp marked 'PATENT 1585', plain five-shot cylinder with automatic ejection on opening, double action mechanism with guarded trigger and spurred hammer, semi saw-handled chequered walnut grip, shallow domed butt-cap with central lanyard ring, retaining the majority of its apparenty original blued finish
