28in. nitro reproved blacked damascus barrels (shortened) with scroll engraving at the breech ends, raised matt rib engraved 'PATENT WEDGE FAST', and 'W.W. GREENER. 68. HAYMARKET. LONDON. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, scroll-back action with carved serpentine fences, hold-open toplever, the action with 'jumping jack' return stud, manual side-safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail,, fine scroll engraving surrounding naive game scenes of game birds and rabbit, the triggerguard with a hound, the standing breech with a stag, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 3/8in. figured stock including wooden buttplate, the chequering with decorative borders and with horn-inlaid drop points, fore-end with Deeley and Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 14oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed July 1889 as a best ejector with 30in. barrels. The order indicates that the gun went to Paris although whether this was for an exhibition or a client is not recorded.
