FORMERLY THE PROPERTY OF THE RT. HON. SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL
A HARDWOOD CASE FOR A TAKE-DOWN .220 RIFLE,
Possibly Indian in origin with figured panels of diamond form and inset stylised M.C. monogram, James Woodward & Sons label naming the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill as the owner and relating to rifle sn. 60989, also with a James Purdey & Sons Ltd. label relating to the Soames family, partially lined and fitted internally with two flush fitted brass lock (key missing).

Provenance: The Right Honourable Sir Winston Churchill needs no introduction suffice to say that he was arguably the most noted statesman and orator of the 20th Century. We are unable to state with any certainty, but it would seem an educated assumption that the M.C. monogram on the case lid refers to his daughter Mary Churchill, now The Right Honourable Lady Soames.
