A BOXED 6.35mm (.25ACP) SEMI-AUTOMATIC POCKET PISTOL, SIGNED WALTHER, MODEL '9', serial no. 515430, circa 1936, with 2in. sighted barrel, the slide stamped 'WALTHER'S PATENT MOD. 9' together with a 'WALTHER' banner, the opposite side with 'WAFFENFABRIK WALTHER ZELLA-MEHLIS (THUR)', the frame with black hard-rubber chequered grips containing the 'Walther' banner to the base and blue enamelled medallions with the 'Walther 9' logo and the calibre respectively, original magazine with 'Walther' banner (the whole in good condition with only slight storage marks and surface corrosion), TOGETHER WITH its original green card carton with pink interior, spare magazine and instruction manual (edge splits and staining, hinge gone)

Provenance: The vendor informs us that this pistol and the following lot were taken from a German officer in December 1941 during the campaign to hold Tobruk, which was the only deep-sea port in Libya. They were taken at Gazala, Hill no.183 from an officer who was 'unable to argue'. At that time the vendor was serving with the 3rd Infantry Assault Battalion of the 4th Company SBSK (Polish Brigade) They have been held as 'war souvenirs' ever since.
