25 3/4in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'THE NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. LTD. 206-216 MARYLEBONE ROAD. LONDON. N.W.1.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke, scroll-back treble-grip action, the fences deeply carved in relief with roses on a matted background, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving surrounding vignettes of a nye of pheasant and a covey of partridge, the underside engraved 'NATIONAL', the toplever with a heron with fish, the triggerguard with a retriever with rabbit, retaining slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 1/4in. well-figured stock including buttplate, weight 6lb. 5oz.
Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that this gun, together with the following Lot 1727, were presented to him as a composed pair, upon his retirement from The National Cash Register Company. The guns had previously been owned by the firm for use by its Wildfowling Section (whilst a going concern) and had then been kept in storage until being given to the current owner.
