circa 1869, with 6 1/4in. blued octagonal barrel with engraved muzzle, pillar and dovetail fore-sight, top-strap notched and grooved for the rear-sight, blued frame with border-line engraving stamped 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT' in an oval at the breech on the left hand side, plain colour-hardened cylinder with rope engraving to the leading edge, 'Tranter's Patent' ramrod ejector mounted on the right hand side of barrel, 'saw-handled' one piece chequered walnut grip, steel butt-cap with eye for lanyard ring, the whole retaining a good amount of finish and colour
