29 3/4in. nitro reproved barrels with acanthus scrollwork at the breech ends, rib gold-inlaid '2' and engraved (likely refreshed) 'W.W. GREENER. MAKER. 68. HAYMARKET. LONDON. WORKS ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with arcaded fences, ropework engraved shoulders, automatic side safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, toplever gold-inlaid with a crown, the action and bottomplate profusely engraved with fine scrolling acanthus and bands of finely engraved leafwork surrounding vignettes of hound flushing partridge and duck, the underside with a solitary woodcock, the triggerguard with two pointers, the safety surround with a pheasant, the triggerguard tang engraved 'GRADE G60', retaining traces of original colour-hardening and some original finish, 14 7/8in,. well-figured stock with ornate horn-inlaid drop points, ornate chequering borders and including 7/8in. wooden extension, slender fore-end with horn finial, Deeley & Edge patent release catch with border and scroll engraving and a vignette of a mallard in flight, the chequering with ornate borders, weight 6lb. 11oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase with gold-tooled red Greener trade label and canvas and leather outer cover

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that W W Greener gun no. 50418 is No.2 of a pair of Unique ejector G 60 12 bore shotguns started on 6th November 1901 and finished on 6th June 1905. The guns were engraved by Horrocks (scroll) and Mills (game).
